About Micro Quality Calibration

Expert Calibration Services in Southern California & Nationwide

Micro Quality Calibration Inc. (MQC) was founded in 1978 as a technology-oriented calibration, repair, testing, and first article inspection facility for precision measurement test equipment. From the beginning, MQC has focused on providing the highest-quality work product, timely execution, exceptional customer service, flexibility to meet each customer’s business needs, and, most of all, repeatability.

MQC is fully accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 (with over 94 accredited procedures both at its facility and mobile facility), certified to ANSI/NCSL Z540.3-2006, ANSI/NCSL Z540-1-1994, ISO 10012-1, traceable to NIST, compliant to ISO 9000 series 1, 2, 3 & 4, and NASA Quality Publication 200-2, NAVAL BUREAU of WEAPONS Standards Laboratory Information Manuals, and, where applicable, other customers’ requirements. MQC is a woman-owned business that is designated as a small business in the state of California.

MQC offers the most complete service offering in the country, which has propelled MQC to an unprecedented organic growth of over 2,000 companies, primarily by word of mouth.

This growth can be attributed to two factors:

  • Our team’s daily preparation, pursuit for continuous improvement, and day-in and day-out hard work. Our daily preparation is the focus on our mission statement and our company’s core values: Quality of work product, meeting our calibration turnaround, and providing the best customer service we can every day. Over time, this approach to our daily activities has distanced ourselves from many of our competitors.
  • With the understanding that each and every customer has different needs, MQC looks to create a custom-tailored calibration solution based on the individual customer’s needs and utilizing the data analytics available to create the most cost-effective and efficient calibration campaign and then building reports that monitor the campaign.

Our goal is to have each and every relationship result in mutually exclusive win-win partnership.

MQC can improve total costs, have fewer suppliers, and streamline processes because we:

  • Utilize calibration data to drive operational and financial decisions
  • Identify inefficiencies and processes that can be improved
  • Automate and leverage technology
  • Have better control of assets
  • Use more effective communication
  • Have less downtime (fast and consistent turnaround)
  • Are able to use fewer vendors (less subcontracting)
  • Are invested in process improvement
  • Have Calibration Software and Tool Crib Software, which are fully integrated on a single platform
  • Are a one-stop-shop for calibration, repair, inspection, testing, and sales

We, at Micro Quality Calibration (MQC), call this the MQC difference.

To further expand on this concept, it’s important to define the definition of one-stop-shop and the definition of calibration services.

Professional Lab Instrument Calibration Services

Most companies offer what MQC calls “typical” calibration services. These services include calibration of instruments combined with a pick-up and drop-off service. MQC has a much more full-service and consultative approach to calibration services by including the following:

  • Real-time data analytics to drive financial and instrument-level decisions
    • Ability to customize reports to provide instrument-specific analytics
    • Success ratio analysis broken down by instrument type all the way down to instrument level
      • Identify poorly performing department and/or owners
        • Determine training needs
        • Develop a better process/procedure
      • Identify applications in which incorrect instrument utilized
        • Recommend better performing and/or more durable instruments
      • Provide process improvement
  • Providing dedicated points of contact that not only service your account but offer recommendations
    • Single point of contact with a dedicated customer support team
    • Process improvements
    • Instrument interval analysis (reduce spend by increasing intervals)
    • Review current on-site schedules to optimize efficiency and time management
    • Review current subcontractors to ensure the most cost-effective and reliable solution is selected
    • Audit support
  • Robust technology package
    • Calibration Software and Tool Crib Software seamlessly integrated into the same platform (reduce redundant keys strokes and data integrity issues)
    • Most advanced technology package on the market - offers more functionality, report, and query creation than any other package on the market (completely customized from standard package issued out of the box)
    • Ability to customize and/or add customer-specific fields that can be utilized by end user (i.e. SOOT fields, note fields, memo fields, preventative maintenance, etc.)
    • MQC mines more data fields than any other vendor in the market
      • More data allows for more comprehensive reports and the ability to peel back layers of the analysis to isolate root cause and/or value creation
    • Ability to print/export in any file format or individually scan, zip, and save documents (i.e. calibration certificates, packing slips, invoices, repair advisals, etc.)
    • Automated notifications and setting automated reports on fixed schedules (i.e. OOT notifications, recalls, etc.)
    • MQC will clean-up and standardize instrument record detail on every receiving event to have a clean and accurate equipment list
    • Fully validated software
    • High-level data integrity
  • Fast and consistent turnaround across broad service and capability range
    • Single facility
      • 5 Business-day turnaround; 98% successful over the last 10 years in turning calibration events
      • Most consistent and timely turnaround amongst any players in the market (testimonials available from a variety of customers with significant instrument count)
    • One of the largest service offerings for a single facility in the country
      • Calibration, inspection, repair, testing, and sales of precision measurement equipment
      • Ability to repair almost every item we calibrate to the component level
    • One of the largest A2LA ISO 17025 accreditations and scope for a single facility in the country

MQC has had several opportunities to purchase additional calibration facilities in the past several years; however, the opportunity to reinvest in the company (capabilities, services, technology package, etc.) outweighed the benefit of expansion through acquisition. Our approach is thorough and exhaustive as we hope to find the right strategic partner that shares the same culture and approach to quality. MQC continues to be on the lookout for such an opportunity.

Presently MQC maintains its A2LA ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation and meets and exceeds the requirements of ANSI/NCSL Z540-1-1994, ANSI/NCSL Z540.3-2006 among others. Our services are currently being offered through our custom-built, 22,000 square foot, seven-laboratory, environmentally-controlled, state-of-the-art facility located at 9168 De Soto Avenue, Chatsworth, CA, 91311. With the move came several scheduled upgrades in software, hardware, technology, customer web portal, and dual-factor authentication per DFARS 252.204-7012. Including the expansion of over 27-plus different capabilities spanning the following disciplines: Physical dimensional, chemical, bio-environmental, thermodynamics, aerodynamics, optical quantities, electromagnetics, time, frequency, mechanical, flow, mass, testing, and inspection.

Our ISO 17025 calibration capabilities include, but are not limited to, the following types of equipment:
